Kidslox Review 2023

Introduction

We are living in a digital era when it is being more difficult to monitor our kids. With most children having access to smartphones, tablets, and computers, we may not always know what they are doing when they are online. If you want to have peace of mind, then a parental control app is a must-have. Among others, Kidslox is one option worth considering, which is also what we’ll be talking about in the rest of this short review.

With Kidslox, it will be easy to set boundaries on the online activities of your kids. You can remotely control the device being monitored. From location tracking to content blocking, Kidslox can prove to be useful in more ways than one.

Kidslox Set Up

To install Kidslox, go to the website and look for the download link. Alternatively, you can also go to the AppStore or Playstore, depending on the operating system of the device that you are using. Once you are in the app, you will see a short introduction to take you step-by-step on its features. You will also need to register so that you will have your log-in credentials. From here, you can explore the different functions of the app and set the desired restrictions.

Family Filtering, Blocking, and Monitoring

Web Filters

As a powerful parental control app, Kidslox allows blocking and filtering to make sure that kids won’t access age-inappropriate content, such as those that are related to pornography, violence, and drugs, among other sensitive topics.

Under content filtering, there are six options, four of which are activated by default. The following are the filters that are available when you use this app.

Activity Record

One of the biggest drawbacks of Kidslox is that it does not have features that allow it to record a variety of activities. For instance, we have seen a lot of parental control apps wherein you will have the option to access a record of social media messages, calls, texts, and even pictures that are saved and deleted on the device being monitored.

With Kidslox, the only activity record that you will be able to access is the location history. There is a convenient report that will let you see the places where your child has been for a specific time. This will help you make sense of your child’s behaviors.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Cons

Mobile Support

You can use Kidslox on both iOS and Android. Whether your kid has an iPhone or a Samsung phone, among others, you can unlock its full features and enjoy its many benefits.

Kidslox also has mac app you that you can easily install on your Mac. Windows app is also available.

Location Tracking

One thing that is frustrating for any parent is to not know the location of his or her kid. With Kidslox, that should never be the case. like most of the options for a parental control app, there are powerful location tracking features. You can see their exact location on a map. You can also set custom zones and see their location history.

Kidslox uses cellular networks, Wi-Fi, and GPS to track the location of your child. Even if there is no internet connection, the app will keep on tracking location. Once the device is connected to the internet, it will pool the data and show all the locations recorded. If the device monitored is Android, the location data will refresh every minute. On the other hand, if the device monitored is on the iOS platform, the location data will refresh every 100 meters of change.

Time Management

Another thing that we love about Kidslox is the ability to set daily limits depending on what you assume is healthy for your kid. You can set the exact screen time that kids can have on a given day. When the time has elapsed, the phone or tablet will instantly switch to Lockdown Mode, and at this point, it can no longer be used.

Setting Up a Schedule

When it comes to time management, one of the things that you can do is to set-up a schedule. This allows you to pre-set a time session during the day. For instance, if kids are supposed to be studying from 6 pm to 7 pm, you can set the device in Lockdown Mode so that they cannot use it. Doing this is easy. Go to the app, click the Time tab, and choose Schedule. Press the Add Schedule button and set the schedule as desired. You can also customize the name of the schedule.

Adding a Daily Time Limit

Aside from setting up a schedule, you can also set a fixed amount of time that kids are allowed to use their phones. To do this, go to the app and open the Time tab. Tap Edit and adjust the time as you wish. When the screen is turned on, the timer works. When the screen is off, the timer stops. Once the limit has lapsed, the phone will be in locked mode.

Pricing

With Kidslox, you can choose from three plans depending on your budget and the features that you would like to enjoy. If you are unsure if you should give it a try, start with their free version. This will be limited to one device. If you are ready for a paid subscription, you can choose from Basic or Premium. The Basic Plan is $3.99 per month, $39.99 per year, and $79.99 for a lifetime. It covers five devices. For the Premium Plan, on the other hand, it is $5.99 monthly, $59.99 annually, and $99.99 for a lifetime membership

If this is an expensive solution check out our selection of free parental control apps and their reviews.

Conclusion

In sum, Kidslox is one of the most reliable options if you are looking for a parental control app. It can limit access to a specific device, set time limits, and track location, among other things. There is a free version, but it has limited features. The paid plans will let you unlock a plethora of benefits and functions to keep an eye on the whereabouts of your child.
